Fall in love with fall at Dragonfly Landing B&B!

Wooly sweaters, home-made pies, fall colours reflected in the serene lake, and cozy evenings by the fire - this is what makes autumn at Dragonfly Landing so magical!

The fall colours came a bit late this year, with some locals wondering if maybe they wouldn't be in their full splendour this year, but Mother Nature made good and has finally blessed us with an amazing display of red, yellow and orange. We've been enjoying the view down by the lake, from which we have an amazing view of some of the rock cuts that make Bancroft famous. Here's a photo of our view...

We also had a great time last week at the first annual Bancroft Farmer's Market Pie Competition. After the judges sampled each of the home-made pies entered in the contest, we (and a horde of other drooling pie-enthusiasts) got to bid on the pies in a live auction. The champion pie was a lemon cream pie that everyone wanted - and we mean everyone.

The much sought-after champion pie!

The bidding was fierce, but in the end, we got it! We took that Champion pie home for Thanksgiving dinner, and unsurprisingly, it was de-lec-ta-ble! Yum! And not only did it taste great, but we feel awesome knowing we're supporting a good cause, as all the proceeds from the pie auction go toward the Bancroft Community Cupboard and the Farmer's Market. We'll definitely be attending the pie contest again next year. Here we are, after the very competitive auction with our pie! Left to right, Bancroft councillor Bill Kilpatrick was a judge at the pie contest, Kim and Rick Bull (that's us!) were very happy with our pie, and event organizer and baker-extraordinaire Jaki McArthur made the event a shining success!

With our bellies full of pies, and our hearts full of gratitude, there's nowhere else we'd rather be spending this incredible time of year. But enough blogging for now - it's a great afternoon for a canoe ride across the lake! Don't be a stranger - leave us a comment telling us what your favourite part of fall is, or come join us for a stay at Dragonfly Landing Bed and Breakfast!
